Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and the controls you have over your data.
Last updated · February 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Write4Pay (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use write4pay.com and related services (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information we collect
You give us directly. When you sign up, we collect your email address, display name, chosen handle, and (optionally) a profile picture, biography, and PayPal.me link. When you publish, comment, or interact, we collect the content you submit.
You give us for payment. If you join the Partner Program or sponsor a story we use Stripe to process the payment; Stripe collects and handles your payment card information according to their own privacy notice — we do not store your full card number.
We collect automatically. Like most websites, we collect log information such as your IP address, browser, device type, referral source, pages you visit, and interactions with content. We use a small number of first-party cookies and browser storage keys (see Cookies, below).
From third parties. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google as part of the sign-in flow.
2. How we use your information
- To create and operate your Write4Pay account.
- To display your content and profile to readers on the Service.
- To send you transactional email (sign-in codes, magic links, receipts) via our email provider.
- To process Partner Program subscriptions and sponsorships via Stripe.
- To detect and prevent abuse, spam, and fraud, and to enforce our Terms.
- To measure how the Service is used so we can improve it.
- To communicate with you about product updates you have opted into.
3. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the following categories of recipients, and only for the purposes described:
- Cloud infrastructure: our hosting platform stores our servers and database.
- Database: MongoDB (managed service) stores the content of the Service.
- Email delivery: Resend sends transactional emails.
- Payments: Stripe processes Partner Program subscriptions and sponsorships. PayPal facilitates tips from readers directly to writers; Write4Pay does not receive any tip funds.
- Authentication: Google (if you sign in with Google).
- Legal or safety: we may disclose information if we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to comply with law, protect our rights, or protect the safety of users or the public.
Anything you publish publicly on Write4Pay (articles, comments, your profile bio) is visible to anyone on the internet, including search engines.
4. Cookies and browser storage
We use a small number of first-party cookies and localStorage keys to keep you signed in (the session token you receive after login), remember your theme preference, and track playback progress for the “Continue Listening” feature. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.
5. How long we keep your data
We keep your account, published content, and profile for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account we delete or anonymise personal information within 30 days, except where a longer retention period is required to comply with law, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Backups may persist for a further limited period before being overwritten. One-time sign-in codes are stored briefly and automatically deleted 15 minutes after use.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@write4pay.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
7. Children
Write4Pay is not intended for children under 13. You must be 13 or older to create an account and 18 or older to receive payouts. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided personal information to us can contact us at the email above.
8. International transfers
Write4Pay operates from the United States. If you use the Service from another country, information you provide will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and other jurisdictions where our service providers operate. By using the Service you consent to that transfer.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information — including access controls, encryption in transit, hashed one-time codes, and least-privilege database access. No system is perfectly secure; if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, notify you by email or an in-app banner at least 14 days before they take effect.
